Cris Zalles - Short Biography 2025

Cris Zalles is a Chilean musician, singer-songwriter who has lived in the US for over 40 years, with hundreds of songs recorded and published by artists around the world. Among them, Luis Fonsi, Ricky Martin, Chayanne, Marcos Llunas, Santana, David Bisbal, Ednita Nazario, Alex Ubago and many others.

Songwriter for Warner/Chappell Music (WB), ASCAP in the USA (Domestic Catalog) and SGAE (International Catalog). His songs have been included in multiple Gold and Platinum records, Film and TV throughout an extensive international catalog.

 

His list of credits, in addition to songwriter extends to works as producer, artist, audio engineer, language adaptations, musical arranger and vocalist. Some awards include the Song of the Year award (ASCAP/Ballad/2005), Composer of the Year from Premios lo Nuestro (2005) and #1 on Billboard.

    

Cris has been a member of the Recording Academy (NARAS/Grammys) for over 20 years, where for 3 of those years he served as a Governor in the "South Florida Chapter". He has also been a member of the Latin Recording Academy for many years.

 

A couple of years ago he built his new recording studio in Tennessee, from where he writes, records, produces and teaches composition classes online.

 

In 2023, he released his first album as a singer-songwriter in 25 years. After dedicating himself entirely to writing songs for others, Cris said "It's time to open the door to the original dream." The album is called Escenas Pendientes. In 2023/24 he also wrote and produced albums for new up and coming latin artists.

2025 marks a radical shift in Cris' career as he is dedicating most of his time to the specialized art of creating Spanish adaptations for clients' song catalogs as well as for his publisher Warner/Chappell Music. Some of the songs Cris has been called to work on belong to artists like Sting, Rihanna, David Bisbal, George Michael, Ed Sheeran, Eric Clapton, Foreigner, Ace of Base, Nick Jonas, REM, INXS, Diego Torres, Santana, Plain White T’s, Cheap Trick, Tom Petty, Marcos Llunas and many others.
